Serial Number: Tumi & Rimowa
When you register a damaged Tumi or Rimowa case with us, we always ask for a serial number that is normally affixed to or in the luggage. We don’t require any further information about it (like measurements, material, etc.) because using this number we can find out everything we need.
A serial number on a Rimowa suitcase is unique for every suitcase and usually contains from 13 to 17 digits that indicate the colour, style, year it was made, etc. It is usually engraved outside, near the hinges.
IMPORTANT: older Rimowa models don’t have serial numbers.
Tumi luggage’s have a style number which is unique per model, not per every suitcase. It consists of 7 numbers and letters that specify certain characteristics like colour, size, etc. It is placed on a label in an outside pocket.
IMPORTANT: don’t mix the style number with a tracer number that has 20 digits and is used to register a suitcase in a Tumi system (you can track it if it’s lost or stolen). The tracer number doesn’t contain any information about the characteristics of the baggage.
